ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - An accident in Andrew County left a Kansas City man in serious condition.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 20-year-old Zion Thornton was on I-29, just one mile north of St. Joseph, driving a 2011 Honda Civic, before 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The Patrol says the Civic went off the side of the road, crossed the median into the oncoming lanes, struck a guardrail and overturned before traveling down an embankment.
Thornton was taken to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph before being taken to KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. with serious injuries.
The Patrol adds that a passenger, 20-year-old Marquel Pettite-Pilgram of Kansas City, was taken to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph with moderate injuries.
